I found some cool Photoshop stuff Flickr today and did some editing to a couple of pics, here is my before and after.
After:
It an action in photoshop, all I do is press play and it does everything for you. Just a bit of tweaking and your done!!! This one is a fake lomo. If you are not familiar with lomo check this out. I can't afford these camera's so this is pretty cool!!!
I posted recently about my amazon.com ban and I started thinking about how I need to do more, sometimes I feel like I am just one person and what kind of an impact can that make? I will stop thinking like that now!!
The first is Walmart, Amygeekgirl just posted about this and I felt really guilty after reading it (in a productive way - does that make sense?). I shop at Walmart. I knew about the things the company was doing but I stopped listening because I liked shopping there, well I liked the prices - I really hate going there - it is complete chaos!! Well I am not going to go anymore. So thank you Amygeek girl for that post!!
The next is Nestle and here are my reasonings behind it:
- Nestle and Wyeth provide free milk to maternity hospitals in the Third World so that newborn babies are routinely bottle-fed.
- When newborn babies are given bottles, they are less able to suckle well. This makes breastfeeding failure likely. The baby is then dependent on artificial milk.
- When the mother and baby leave hospital, the milk is no longer free. At home parents are forced to buy more milk, which can cost 50% of the family income.
- Because the milk is so expensive the child is not fed enough. This leads to malnutrition.
- The water mixed with the formula is often contaminated. This leads to diarhhoea, malnutrition and often death. James Grant, Executive Officer of UNICEF, has said:
Every day some 3,000 to 4,000 infants die because they are denied access to adequate breast milk.
- 1.5 million babies die every year from unsafe bottle feeding.
- Breast feeding is free and safe and protects against infection - but companies know that unless they get babies on the bottle, they don't do business.
Mike said I should look up Nestle's parent company's also. He is so amazing, I thought he was gonna think I was crazy but he completely understood and agreed with me.
Anyone else reading do these things?? If anyone has any current news about nestle I would also like to hear that, I couldn't find anything current.
On another note, A bunch of people added my picture as a favorite on flickr and I got a bunch of comments!! This is the one they like the most :)
