Mike and I decided a while ago that if we needed to use baby bottles we were gonna use glass ones because of the chemicals that can be leaked through the plastic ones. Today a friend emailed me a really good link to the dangers in plastics.

We got a free Advent baby bottle after registering for the shower at Babies R Us and it is listed as one of the bad ones.

The article says to stay away from the #3 or #7 (located in the recycling triangle on the bottom of plastics) or if it says PC near the recycling triangle.

These plastics leak a chemical called Bisphenol A

Adverse Health Effects of Bisphenol A Include…
…early onset of puberty
…obesity
…diabetes
…hyperactivity
…increase in aggression
…changes in response to painful or fear-provoking stimuli
…impaired learning and memory
…reversal of normal sex differences in the brain structure
…elimination of sex differences in behavior
…decreased maternal behavior
…impaired immune function
…breast cancer
…prostate disease and cancer
…sperm defects
…impaired female reproductive development
…miscarriage

Very scary stuff!!

Here is a link to Amazon to buy glass baby bottles. I have also read that they are great in storing breast milk. I took the Medela breast milk storage bags I registered for off my shower registry because I found out they too have the chemical in them too.
